ABOUT ABOUT

For a quarter century, the Owens women have bewitched readers with their intricate aura of magic, mystery, romance and fear. But in prequel after prequel, as the lovable witches suffer at the hands of the cruelest and most ignorant of men, Alice Hoffman makes her subtext clear: It’s a dangerous world for women, especially those who don’t conform.

Now, in the conclusion to her Practical Magic series, The Book of Magic, the master storyteller reveals the secret behind 300 years of Owens family curses in a moving celebration of mothers, daughters, sisters, brothers and anyone who has ever loved.

More than thirty novels, collections of short stories and young-adult books have catapulted Alice Hoffman onto The New York Times bestseller list and Hollywood screens and into Oprah’s Book Club.

In conversation with novelist Ann Leary.
